Future of Web Design and Web Development

Stephen Hawking rightly said, ‘we are all now connected to the internet like neurons in a giant brain.’ Nowadays, everyone has an internet presence. One of the primary reasons for this presence is accessibility to information and services.

Every website we hop on to, real people design every service we use. A website needs to be well designed and developed from a technical and visual standpoint to be effective; hence Web designing and web development are the pathways through which a website comes into existence.

Web designing vs. web development: The difference

Web Designing: It is the process of making the face of the website – the part that the website visitor sees – visually appealing and easy to understand. Web design covers all aspects of a website’s visual aesthetics and usability – the color scheme, layout, text and image presentation, and user experience (UI/UX).

Web Development:  The goal of web development is to create the computer codes that run a website. A web developer transforms a website design into a functional website. The two main branches of web development are the front-end and the back-end. Front-end application code dictates the look and feel of the website based on the mockups designed by a designer.

The back-end of an application handles data within a database and shows the user’s results on the front-end.

No Code Movement

Businesses are empowered to meet the rapidly changing technology landscape by developing software with little or no coding involved in the no-code movement.

This type of web development allows non-programmers and programmers to design software that does not require them to write code. You can visually create modern applications and websites with No Code by converting code fundamentals into drag and drop solutions.

However, no-code is not just for non-technical people. It’s also for technical creators who need an easier way to test out ideas.

Benefits of No Code Tools

Quick to learn: No code tools are easier to figure out than programming tools. They can be learned in days or weeks instead of learning code that takes months or years.

Cost-Effective: Several no-code tools are free to use or come with a free tier. This allows non-technical entrepreneurs to test ideas without raising any capital. A company saves money every time it can get a project done without engaging expensive engineering resources and scarce technical talent.

Easy Iteration: Developing an application may require developers to make changes midway due to customers’ changing needs. A traditional coding approach makes this quite difficult and expensive. When applying no-code, developers can integrate changes quickly and enhance the functionality of the applications anytime.

Cons of No Code Tools

  • Dependency is a severe issue with no-code software. Whatever tool you choose, you’re bound to it.
  • In contrast with custom development, you will always lose control over your application when choosing the no-code route.
  • It is possible to limit functionality and creativity by using rigid templates and design options.
  • When it comes to data storage, you may not have complete control and will not be able to use it as you would like

The Future

In the last decade, the tech industry has come under harsh criticism for its lack of diversity and inclusion. Coding education and funding startup founders are slowing down tech’s evolution; however, there is potential for the no-code movement to shift the tech landscape rapidly. Users who lack technical skills will have the ability to perform tasks that previously required a specialist; hence creating digital experiences will become easier and easier in the future.
